- 02 Loaner gear provided
- 03 Every class included
- 04 Adults, teens and kids from age 4
What do you want to train?
Pick the closest match. If you're not sure, choose jiu jitsu. It's where most people start, and we'll move you if something else suits you better.
What your first class looks like
Arrive early
Get there 15 minutes before class. We'll show you around, sort your gear and introduce you to the coach.
What to wear
Shorts and a t-shirt without zips or pockets. Bring a water bottle.
Gear
Loaner gear for your first classes if you need it.
Sparring
You will not be thrown into hard sparring on day one. First classes are drilling and positional work at a pace that suits you.
Class length
Most classes run 60 minutes.
Waiver
Everyone signs a liability waiver before their first class. Under 18s need a parent or guardian to sign.
Reserve your first class
Send us your details and you're in. If you'd like a hand picking the right class to start with, call or text and we'll point you at one.

Full access to the whole schedule. Come back as often as you like, to any class. No pressure, no sales pitch.
How the free week works
- Who it's for
- New local students who haven't trained at Alive before. One free week per person.
- When it starts
- Your week begins with the first class you reserve, and runs for seven consecutive calendar days from that date.
- What you can train
- Everything. Full access to the schedule for the whole week: jiu jitsu, wrestling, striking, MMA, open mat and yoga. The only limit is age-appropriate classes, and we'll point you at the right first session.
- What you need
- Nothing to start. Loaner gear is available for your first classes. Just bring shorts, a t-shirt and a water bottle.
- Before you train
- The waiver is part of the booking form, so it's done before you arrive. Students under 18 need a parent or guardian to complete it.
- You're booked once you reserve
- Pick a class and turn up. If you'd rather we help you choose the right first session, call or text any time and we'll talk it through.
Before you book
Do I need any experience?
None. Most people who walk in have never trained before, and every class has beginners in it.
Am I fit enough?
Yes. You set your own pace, and sitting a round out on your first week is completely normal.
What if I can't make seven days in a row?
That's fine. Come as often as you can during the week. There's no minimum.
Is this really free?
Yes. No card, no deposit, no automatic rollover into a membership. We'll talk about membership at the end of the week if you want to.
Can my child do the free week?
Yes, from age four. A parent or guardian needs to sign the waiver and be present for the first class.
Do you have loaner gear?
Loaner gear for your first classes if you need it.
