Competition records are easy to list and tell you very little about whether someone can teach. What follows is how our coaches actually run a room, and what that means for you on your first day.

Coaching approach

Every class is built around skill acquisition using a constraints-led approach. Rather than long blocks of step-by-step drilling, students work in live scenarios against a resisting partner, which lets them develop skills that suit their own attributes: short, tall, strong, quick, creative or tricky.

Every class comes back to three things

  1. Realistic skill development. Skills that hold up against a resisting partner, not just in cooperative drilling.
  2. A good workout. Every session moves, at a pace that suits your level.
  3. Having fun. Training should be something you look forward to. Kids especially thrive in this format.
