Kickboxing and striking class at Alive Jiu Jitsu and MMA

Our striking programme pulls from boxing, Muay Thai and kickboxing rather than teaching them as separate silos. You'll learn to punch, kick, knee and defend, on pads and bags, with technique that holds up under pressure.

What you get out of it

Why people train this

  • Real striking technique, not a cardio class with gloves on
  • Conditioning that comes from rounds, not machines
  • Footwork, timing and distance you can actually use
  • A hard workout with a skill attached
A typical class

What actually happens

  1. Rounds of shadow boxing to warm up
  2. Technique of the day on pads
  3. Partner drills at a controlled pace
  4. Bag work and conditioning to finish

If it's your first time: No hard sparring in your first classes. You'll be on pads and bags learning the mechanics before anything else.

Questions

Kickboxing & Striking FAQ

Will I get hit in my first class?

No. Beginners work pads and bags. Sparring is a later, optional step and always at a controlled intensity.

Do I need my own gloves?

Not to start. We have loaner gear. Most people buy their own once they know they're sticking with it.
